The Global Citizen program enables young people to directly impact communities abroad through volunteer internships, as well as develop themselves personally and professionally  by gaining practical skills and by experiencing a new culture. Internships are available in a variety of countries, in a variety work settings, from NGOs, to Universities, to small businesses.

Global Citizen internships are typically 6-8 weeks and are designed to give you the personal development experience that will take you one step further in your career, while allowing youth to make a positive impact in society in the areas of Cultural Understanding, Literacy, and Soical Entrepreneurship.

Our Internships

AIESEC in Canada is partnered with 10 countries to provide high quality exchange experiences for Canadian interns. Participants applying for internships in these countries receive an expedited interview process, a higher exchange experience and tailored cultural preparation.

Develop activities and workshops to showcase your culture and promote cross-cultural understanding in communities abroad. Become a Global Citizen by being an ambassador of your country and learning about the culture of your host country.

Empower a nation's next generation of leaders. Provide children, teenagers and young adults with access to basic education through language education, skills development and youth empowerment.

Gain practical experience by applying business knowledge to address issues faced by NGOs and small businesses around the world. Work on marketing and fundraising strategies, and educate young on entrepreneurship skills.

1. Between 18 to 30 years of age.

2. A current student or recent alumnus within 2 years of graduating from a Canadian university.

3. Open-minded about new cultures and experiences.

To become an "Exchange Participant" for the Global Citizen Program, students must:

1. Be obligated to match within 3 months (will get $50 reimbursement if matched within 3 months).

2. Attend our Outgoing Preparation Seminar.

3. Engage with the AIESEC Local Committee here and abroad.

4. Be open to opportunities we have available.

5. Assist the Exchange Participant Manager in finding opportunities online.

6. Complete survey about exchange experience.

Weekly Time Commitment

An "Exchange Participant" must fulfill these weekly commitments in order to go on an exchange:

Applying to AT LEAST 5 Internships

Complete approximately 1-3 Interviews for different projects or jobs

Follow up with applications and interviews

Programme Fees

Programme Fee: $485

This fee includes:

$465: (On Paypal)

  • Access to AIESEC's global database of internships

  • Support from the AIESEC local committee in Canada and abroad

  • Cultural preparation seminars in Canada and host country

  • Subsidized accommodations and food in host country (varies by internship)

  • Support in Visa application process (if visa is applicable)

$20: (Cash)

  • Membership required to go on an AIESEC exchange

This fee DOES NOT include:

  • Transportation or airfare, visa application fees, insurance fees or vaccine costs
